This is my personal website that I have created to highlight my resume and other things that I want to share with the world.

I do not have a lot of time currently to maintain regular updates due to life and general and the fact that I am currently in Grad school working on my Masters in Computer Information Security and school work does take a large portion of my time these days.

My site is proudly hosted by FastComet.com and I have never been happier, click the banner below to check them out and sign up.

I myself am a big fan of Blizzard games. I currently play World of Warcraft and have since it first launched. I play Starcraft 2 from time to time. I also play a lot of Diablo 3 and I have been playing Heroes of the Storm since Alpha. I played Hearthstone quite a bit when it first came out but I don’t play this that much anymore. My first Blizzcon was back in 2008 and I have since been back in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Diablo 3 Armory Page

Since I have not been playing as much World of Warcraft due to a lack of time as I am focused on finishing my Master’s Degree I have been playing a lot more Diablo 3. I have decided to add a link to my Diablo 3 Character page to showcase some of the characters I have in my roster.

Rainbow Goblin Farming Season 15

This was one of the quickest routes that I found to churn through goblins as fast as I could in hopes of finding Rainbow Goblins in my search for the Cosmic Wings.  I can run this route with my Chicken Witch Doctor in about 6 minutes. I update the data in the chart when I am done farming goblins each day. I will stop contributing data to this when I have finally looted my cosmic wings. Sadly there have was numerous runs that I had done previously that I did not track prior to December 20th 2018.

As of 12/28/18 The following percentages were calculated from my table below. I will continue to update my data as I continue to hunt for rainbow goblins.

Chance of a Vault Portal spawning is 2.22%

Chance to find a Rainbow Goblin is 2.67%

*** These percentages are calculated based on the table below, it is based on a total of 168 goblins located ***

Diablo 3 Goblin Farming Percentages

The chart below is the time that I have spent strictly farming Treasure Goblins in search of a portal to the vault in Diablo 3. This data was collected from the patch (2.1.1) on live servers. The video of the first portal that I got is on our videos page for your viewing pleasure. This was more of a statistical experiment to see if I could narrow down the chance of getting a portal to the vault to spawn. I know this is information might be outdated as now you can pop a vault portal with a puzzle ring in the cube.

World of Warcraft Characters

I used to have links to my World of Warcraft characters however the tool that I was using to show their information has not been working so I have temporarily removed them from the site until I can figure out why they do not load here.

I bought a kit at the Orange County Fair for growing a Scorpion Pepper plant. I followed the instructions to set it all up. I waited and waited but wasn’t getting anything and about 2 weeks later I got a surprise. I am going to wait a bit longer to allow these seedlings to get stronger before I transplant them to the larger pots where they will be allowed to grow into larger plants.

I felt that the sun was a bit too strong for my first set of plants so I decided to build a frame and put up some shade cloth to diffuse the sun a bit. I wanted to protect my plants while still allowing them to get the sun that they will need. We built a frame out of 2×4’s that I mounted shade cloth on top of to provide the protection for the plants.

Once the frame was finished I added the shade cloth. As you can see the sunlight still makes it through to the plants but it is diffused so as to protect the plants from burning.

This was a shot of the cloth at work at 12:30 PM the day after the frame went up.

Today I started working on my our Hot Pepper garden. We have this unused space alongside our house and I thought  that I would like to start a Hot Pepper garden to experiment with making some homemade hot sauces.

This is the before picture I took this afternoon. As you can see there is not much going on here.

Here is another shot from the front porch looking down at the area. Again not much going on here, although the area does get direct sunlight for a good part of the day.

We made a run to Home Depot and my wife found a Green Bell pepper plant that she wanted and I found a Ghost Pepper plant that I thought would make a great fit in the garden. We also picked up a heat resistant tomato plant like the one we got my parents a couple years back that went absolutely nuts and handled the heat of Southern California quite well. I plan on getting some seeds for Golden Habanero peppers as well as some Carolina Reaper  peppers.

I currently have a Trinidad Scorpion Pepper germinating and I hope it sprouts soon so I can transplant it into its larger pot where I think it will thrive.

Here is the end result of my work this afternoon in the 104-degree heat. The plants that I set up today are as follows from left to right. Red Bell Pepper, Green Bell Pepper, Ghost Peppers, Tomatoes.

Today was just the beginning, I broke up the ground and placed the paving  stones in the dirt to give a level place for the pots to sit. I like the stone work that was done around the right edge and I might look to continue that along the back edge and along the right and then slowly work on paving the entire area as I add more plants to the garden. I might eventually have this set up as a spot to sit outside and relax when it is not too hot out, but this is just the start so we will see what we can do as this project progresses. Stay tuned as I will keep posting more photos and progress updates.

Today was a sad day. My aunt Kyla lost her battle with cancer.

When she was originally diagnosed the doctors told us that we would only have a couple of months left with her. Kyla at that time was not wanting to put herself through all of the treatments knowing that she would only have a couple of months left. She changed her mind and decided to fight and fight she did. We ended up with almost two more years with my Aunt. She never lost her silly personality and she is deeply missed.

It’s hard to see someone that you love waste away but in the end I was glad I was there with her at her worst because it makes me treasure the good times all the more.

I reactivated my Facebook for the sole purpose of trying to find a way to export all of my friends contact info so that I can add it to a program such as Microsoft Outlook or import the contacts into my Gmail contacts, but I have yet to accomplish this feat. I was able to get Names and E-Mail addresses imported into a Yahoo account, but the contacts are not able to be exported from there.

So far it looks like I might have to manually type out my friends info into an excel spreadsheet one by one from the Yahoo account I was able to get the names and e-mail addresses into. Why does this have to be so hard?

So as I was reading  one of the many tech articles I   tend to read I heard about this utility called MailStore and how it can archive your emails so you never loose them. I visited the website http://www.mailstore.com and I found that they have a home version that is not only free, but there is a portable version as well. I decided to download it and give it a try. I was impressed that I could essentially back up my Gmail account and then browse the messages in an offline archive. I then tested this against my Hotmail account as well as an Outlook.com account. I now have localized searchable archives that I can look through even while offline. I am impressed with the product so I thought I would share it with the world. The direct link to download the Home version is listed below. I hope you enjoy it and find it as useful as I did.

Having worked in IT for almost 17 years now, it amazes me how users act in the workplace. Currently working at a company in the manufacturing industry everyone is all about processes and streamlining them. There is a process for everything and the users all seem to abide by them all except where IT is involved. Having a well-documented process for seeking assistance appears to be a waste of time. Support processes have been streamlined yet users are not willing to follow the process or rules.

Having to work in a cubicle and be the only person on site to handle the complex projects and implementations as well as the day to day operations is impossible. Nothing makes implementing that new file server easier than the user thinks that they will get an immediate response by yelling at you from their cubicle 20 feet away.

Working in an office and having the door closed is no easy feat either, nothing like the constant barrage of “Can you do…” and “Do you think…” as your door flies open unexpectedly. Lock the door you say, it’s like my cat at home scratching at the door while I am in the shower of a morning, only the cat is much cuter in its actions.

I have had users in my career literally send me an e-mail and then get up from their desk walk across the office and then approach my desk and ask the fated “Did you get my e-mail?” question. Most organizations I have worked for have some sort of ticketing system for tracking issues. This is to document support requests so they are not lost in a shuffle of emails, and or paper on one’s desk. It also allows for IT to see where the frequent issues are and begin looking at the bigger picture of such items like a switch going bad or network cabling that has been chewed by rats.

Having gone through the training required to obtain my Six Sigma Green Belt only makes me appreciate the ticket tracking system all that much more. This is the data that is used to look for trends and then take the appropriate corrective actions. I feel that all users should have to go through this training which not only better their problem-solving skills on the job but will also let them see why the ticketing system is so important to IT.

It’s also really amazing that in today’s day and age users can’t even figure out how to change their password when it comes time. I mean how hard is it really to enter your current password and then pick a new one and enter it twice? I had a recent incident with a user that could not get the new password to match twice this receiving an error message. The users response to this was “It’s not working!”, yet there screen clearly stated that the new password that they entered did not match the two fields that they typed it into.

The whole “It’s not working!” just eats me up. I love the tickets titled “HELP!” with no other indication of what might be wrong. I had a crystal ball, but it stopped working and I had to take it in for repairs, so pardon me for being at a slight disadvantage and not able to read your mind. It’s like the time I had a user email me and tell me the famous “It’s not working, please fix.” to which I promptly replied, “What is it that is not working?” only to have “I can’t import.” sent back as the response /facepalm.  I asked the user if they could be a bit more specific as there are close to 101 applications in use that are capable of doing the said “Import” function they had mentioned. At this point, I get back a snotty response and yet they said then needed to get this said “Import” done by 3:30 pm. It was about this time I gave up and worked on other things.

Google has done evil…

I paid full price for this application and Google comes along and buys them up. I just found out today that my most used app on my iPad is ending support for DropBox and Box.com and forces you into using Google drive.

Google drive does not offer the same functionality that I get from these other services. I also now see that they have taken this app to a free model which is good for the masses but what about those of us that paid for the full functioning version?
