This is my personal website that I have created to highlight my resume and other things that I want to share with the world.

I do not have a lot of time currently to maintain regular updates due to life and general and the fact that I am currently in Grad school working on my Masters in Computer Information Security and school work does take a large portion of my time these days.

My site is proudly hosted by FastComet.com and I have never been happier, click the banner below to check them out and sign up.

I myself am a big fan of Blizzard games. I currently play World of Warcraft and have since it first launched. I play Starcraft 2 from time to time. I also play a lot of Diablo 3 and I have been playing Heroes of the Storm since Alpha. I played Hearthstone quite a bit when it first came out but I don’t play this that much anymore. My first Blizzcon was back in 2008 and I have since been back in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Diablo 3 Armory Page

Since I have not been playing as much World of Warcraft due to a lack of time as I am focused on finishing my Master’s Degree I have been playing a lot more Diablo 3. I have decided to add a link to my Diablo 3 Character page to showcase some of the characters I have in my roster.

Rainbow Goblin Farming Season 15

This was one of the quickest routes that I found to churn through goblins as fast as I could in hopes of finding Rainbow Goblins in my search for the Cosmic Wings.  I can run this route with my Chicken Witch Doctor in about 6 minutes. I update the data in the chart when I am done farming goblins each day. I will stop contributing data to this when I have finally looted my cosmic wings. Sadly there have was numerous runs that I had done previously that I did not track prior to December 20th 2018.

As of 12/28/18 The following percentages were calculated from my table below. I will continue to update my data as I continue to hunt for rainbow goblins.

Chance of a Vault Portal spawning is 2.22%

Chance to find a Rainbow Goblin is 2.67%

*** These percentages are calculated based on the table below, it is based on a total of 168 goblins located ***

Diablo 3 Goblin Farming Percentages

The chart below is the time that I have spent strictly farming Treasure Goblins in search of a portal to the vault in Diablo 3. This data was collected from the patch (2.1.1) on live servers. The video of the first portal that I got is on our videos page for your viewing pleasure. This was more of a statistical experiment to see if I could narrow down the chance of getting a portal to the vault to spawn. I know this is information might be outdated as now you can pop a vault portal with a puzzle ring in the cube.

World of Warcraft Characters

I used to have links to my World of Warcraft characters however the tool that I was using to show their information has not been working so I have temporarily removed them from the site until I can figure out why they do not load here.

I sometimes come across like an asshole when I am pestered to do things for people for free, there really is a deeper reasoning behind me saying No. I have given up time to people only to have them betray me in the long run. I have a technical background and people always assume, that because I am technical, I am going to help them out with whatever issue they may have. There were times that I have done this, but it has always blown up in my face at some point.

I am sure that you may have heard this before, as there have been many before me to ask this question. What is the one thing that once lost, is gone forever? Time, yes that’s right Time is the most valuable resource that you have’ that you can never get back once it is gone. There is something that comes along with time well spent, that is knowledge. If I am spending my time wisely, I can gain knowledge. This knowledge comes from spending my time focusing on things I need to learn, reading books, researching problems I have encountered.

So why am I not so willing to just freely give my time away to others? It’s simple really. If I give that time away, I can never have it back. If I give my time away freely it comes at a cost to me, the loss of time spent with my significant other, family, taking part in my hobbies outside of the time I spend at work. I could be utilizing my time to further build my knowledge by reading books and doing further research.

For the same reason, time is valuable so is knowledge, I spent the time gathering the knowledge I do have’ and that came from an investment of time. So, if I am being asked for my knowledge, I tend to make sure that I am compensated for said knowledge which came at a sacrifice of my time spent acquiring said knowledge.

I look at it this way, we live in a time where most people expect things right now and they also feel entitled to it without a cost. This is not the way it should be, if you are wanting to take shortcuts to gain knowledge from those that have invested their time into gaining it, you should be compensating them for it.

When you go to the mechanic because your car is not running as it should, you are paying the mechanic for their time. The time that they are investing in your problem utilizing the knowledge they sacrificed their time to acquire. You can try to get the mechanic to give you his time for free, but that will most likely not work out in your favor as the mechanic in this situation understands the costs associated with his time.
I am like that mechanic, if you want my time you should have to pay for said time. If you don’t want to compensate for the time spent in the pursuit of knowledge that can never be reclaimed, then you should look at investing your time to research and gain the knowledge with your time rather than expecting someone to give you their time for free.

I have been considering updating all of my logins that support Two Factor Authentication. I have been considering the following hardware token for this rather than relying on Text messages of the Google Authenticator on my phone. I also use a popular password application to store my passwords and this supposedly works with the various ones out there; so I hope this will work for all that I am hoping for. I will post an update to this when I receive the item here in the next couple of days.

There was some recent news as of late in regards to applications tracking your location and then selling this data to other companies. This is a big nono in my book so the apps that made it to the delete and never look backlist are the following applications.

Gas Buddy – Local Gas Prices, shows a list of the cheapest gas in the area.

The Score – A sports score app that lets you follow the scores of your favorite team’s games.

If you have these on your phone I highly suggest deleting them IMMEDIATELY.

I was up the other night and browsing the web and I had a really annoying ad pop up on a page I was trying to read. I have used the various plugins for Chrome and Firefox that block ads yet a lot of sites detect them and force you to whitelist them. I was then struck by the idea of finding if there was some sort of proxy type of app that would work.

I used to have a really cool application called AdSubtract that installed on your system and then set itself up as a local proxy that was capable of stripping ads off of web pages. I was curious to see if there was some sort of newer application that had this same functionality.

This is where I stumbled across pi-hole. ( https://pi-hole.net/ ) This really sparked my interest and I found it will install and run on Linux, I quickly spun up a new Linux VM on my server and began tinkering away. I got pi-hole installed in about 20-30 minutes. Once it was running I set its IP Address as the DNS for one of my test desktop VM’s and the internet just became a whole new wonderful experience.

Now the network engineer in me began wondering how I could deploy this in various configurations both at home and if it would be capable of running on a Small Business network or even in the Enterprise. Now I am having fun tinkering in my test lab with a new toy.

So I recently deployed AutoCAD 2017 Mechanical and set it up utilizing network licensing. I was looking for a way to query the license server to get the number of licenses that are currently in use so that I could create a status board that showed this information as close to real-time as I could get it.

The first this I did was run the command line against the license server to see how many licenses are checked out.

lmutil lmstat -a -c @localhost

This will give you a bunch of information returned to the command line so I took it a bit further and had it pumped out to a text file for reference.

lmutil lmstat -a -c @localhost > C:\LicenseStatus.csv

This gave me all the information that I wanted in terms of the amount of licenses that had been checked out. This also told me who the users were as well as their computer names.

pushd “c:\Autodesk\Network License Manager”
lmutil lmstat -a -c @localhost > c:\acstatus.csv

So it has started to get cooler here in Southern California, no more 90 degree temperatures. Prior to this, I had some of my new pepper plants loose a couple leaves. They started turning yellow and then fell off the baby plants.

I actually was not getting a lot of growth on my plants and I thought that maybe I had stunted their growth by over watering them. I stopped watering them every day and swapped to an every other day watering cycle to see if they would begin to grow more leaves, but they have not really picked up their growth.

Today I began spraying them with a solution of Epsom salt and water to see if this will perk them up and get them growing through the winter months so that next summer I will have them big enough to start producing lots of peppers.

I have found Pepper Joe ( http://www.pepperjoe.com ) to be a great resource and this is where I have purchased my Habanero, Moruga Scorpion, and Carolina Reaper seeds.
If anyone wants to share their experiences please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below, however, registration is required in order to comment.

What is the deal with recruiters these days? A few years ago recruiters that picked through sites like Monster.com and DICE.com used to send you relevant opportunities for the area in which you lived. I get bombarded by recruiters that must be receiving bonuses based on the numbers of emails they send out. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA! Why are you sending me listing for every other area in the United States but Southern California?

I want to stay where I am currently at, I am happy here. I do not want to relocate, therefore I do not need listings sent to me for places like New Jersey(yuck), Illinois, Texas, or what every other godforsaken place you might be trying to recruit for.

Why am I writing this? I have written this so that I can send it back to recruiters that are doing it wrong so that they will hopefully update their information that they have in their databases and stop spamming me with worthless information. I feel that this is a bit friendlier than having this domain blacklisted for spamming.

Why are you reading this? Chances are you are a recruiter that I e-mailed this link to in response to one of your geographically incorrect marketing attempts. Or you could have found your way here by one of the various social media sites that happened to lead you here.

If you are a recruiter and you have something you would like to share with me that is in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, please feel free to reach out to me via this website to start up a conversation.

Thank You.

The little can with the Trinidad Scorpion pepper seeds in it finally sprouted. I had this thing outside for nearly two weeks with no activity then all of a sudden this little guy showed up. There was another seedling that sprouted up as well but it was apparently not as strong as this guy and it shrank and looks to have died off. I plan on transplanting this little guy to a new home where he can grow a lot bigger over time.

This is the first Ghost pepper to sprout on my plant. I got this plant at Home Depot as one of the first plants in my garden. As you can see there is some trouble afoot as the leaves seem to have been chewed up a bit.

This little guy was the culprit of the leave being chewed up. He may look cute, but he can pretty much devour a whole plant in about a day. These Horn Worms hatch and then devour anything green in sight. I pulled him off the plant and then began a search for more. I ended up finding about 10 of these Horn Worms in various sizes, I promptly pulled them off my plants and put them in a different location where they could no longer get at my plants. I have now made checking for Horn Worms part of my daily watering routine.
